December!!

Can’t believe that it’s the first all ready!  Trying to do some decorating.  Should have done it while DD#2 was home to carry the boxes up from the cellar.  Did get my nativity out.   Also have laundry going.

Saw a few snow flurries this morning!

Christmas music is playing.  Need to bring more up decorations besides get the floor mopped before the ladies come tomorrow for Bible study!

Bought webcams for us and the kids in MA.  It works for them but wouldn’t work for us so have to send it back.  Tried to download Skype and that won’t work either!  I hate when I know I could be using technology to stay closer to the family but the computer won’t cooperate!!!!

Need to get to work!

The Day After

They all went shopping so DGD#1 and I had a tea party!  We made “turkey” cookies and I got out my tea set that I had just gotten at the church sale.  She looked so cute in her blue dress (her mom got it for $10 at Kmart at Easter!  She has more than gotten her $10 from it as she wears it frequently and has worn it to several weddings!).  My other 2 grandkids came about 11:30.  First time I’ve had ALL 4 together!!! We did good and I got a picture of the 4 of them together!  The shoppers returned around 3.  Leftovers for dinner (surprise?). DD#2 and BFF from MA ran our son’s kids home as he was working late. Here’s some pics. (I hope as DD#1 took my camera my mistake shopping –they are the same-so I hope to get her pics.)

Can’t get the other pics-sorry!

Thanksgiving

The girls made dinner.  Had a late start with was fine.  Had been back and forth about what time to eat trying to accommodate  DS’s crazy schedule. They made a delicious meal and even had time to workout!  We ate around 3:30.  DS’ girlfriend showed up around 2 (the last she knew we were eating at 1pm). DS showed up just in time to eat!  Had the in-laws down in the evening for dessert (when we finally got a hold of them).

Here’s some pictures of our day:

Day Before Thanksgiving

DD#2 Got in on Tuesday evening.

Wednesday morning-baking pies: 2 pumpkin, 2 apple and 1 mincemeat (out of the jar tho I do have to add raisins and apples to get it to taste “right”).  In touch with DD#1 and family-will be here for lunch! Had NOTHING planned so ordered from Sopranos-pizza for them, a shrimp salad for me and a sub for DD#2.  Ended up sharing my salad with DGD#1.  Then the adults left! Had some time with DGD#1 and DGS#2. Ended up rocking him to sleep and she fell asleep . IMG_2979 She enjoyed playing in the corner with the toys.

IMG_2983 such a happy boy!

IMG_2985 Mimi babysits and gets them asleep.  Her legs were on the loveseat till we tried to make her more comfortable.

Blessings

Ok, so I am suppose to be getting ready for the kids to come home but I just had to share….

Sunday, DD#1 called.  After consulting with her younger sister, they are going to do Thanksgiving dinner and I get to be with the grandchildren!!!  What a blessing! They will get here tomorrow and have to go home on Sat. for a ministry obligation so their time here is short.  Also, Lord willing, we are to go to their house for Christmas, and she is ready to let DGD#1 come home with us!!!  Hopefully DGD#1 is ready!

I was at the church where I quilt and they had a mini-bazaar on election day so I checked out the leftovers.  There was 4 teacups with saucers and dessert plates!  How perfect for tea parties with the granddaughters!!  DGD#1 is all ready planning on our tea party and is bringing her blue dress that she loves!

Need to get going!

What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Quilt Retreat

My quilting buddies, EB ,ST and I went on a quilt retreat.  We went to Patchwork Gardens in the “wilds” of PA.  It’s like a little hide-away off the dirt road.  We had cows in the pasture in front of the cabin ( the sheep were over by the barn this time).  JS, our hostess, has a Handi Quilter dealership and rents time on her machines (2 16’s and one brand new 18).  She also has retreats where you can come and spend time quilting on her machines.  It was wonderful!!  I got 2 quilts for Christmas done.  I had time to do another but didn’t have one with me!  EB did a lap and queen quilts, and a table topper.  ST got 2 quilts done and a window covering!  We went Thursday midday and I came  home Sat. early afternoon. EB and St stayed later.  We didn’t really plan our meals but always had more than enough to eat!  We could have gone out but were very content and settled in.  It would be nice to be snowed in there as long as you had power!

Here are some of the pictures:

IMG_2952 The newest longarm Avanti 18.  I didn’t get to quilt on it but it is a nice machine.  They have listened to their customers and made improvements.

IMG_2954 ST and one of her train quilts (she did 2 of them!)

IMG_2956 EB working on the Pro Sticher.  It does computerized quilting.  It is amazing what machines can do!! She had started this quilt when we were there before so now she had a chance to finish it.  I think if you click on it you can see the feathers in the bottom border that the Pro Stitcher  did.

IMG_2958 The finished quilt-this one is for her (EB is a very generous person and gives away her  quilts so it was nice she made one for herself!)

IMG_2959 Don’t you just love the bear!!!  Looks like it is after ST!  JS had a group from NYC and one person wouldn’t leave the building alone she was so afraid!  I’m sure the bear didn’t add to her security!  They also closed all the blinds!  I’m sure I’d be fearful to visit them in the Bronx!

IMG_2960 EB and her queen size quilt.  This machine is on the sunporch. She really enjoyed the free hand process of doing this one.

IMG_2961 JT and I with the Pro Stitcher.  It was a beautiful heart design that was like what was in one on the fabrics in the quilt!

IMG_2963 Look Ma, no hands!  Yes the machine is quilting!!

IMG_2965 I had hoped you could see the quilting-it’s very similar to the white with pink hearts on the left.

IMG_2966 EB and her table topper.

IMG_2969 That bear is after her now!

We had a wonderful time, challenging as we learned new things but a needed break from life.  I have to say, ST had not gone for the lessons so our 1st day there was challenging for her as she had a lot to learn (overwhelming). That evening she wasn’t sure that it wasn’t easier to pin baste etc.  The next day she got the hang of it and she loved it too!  It says a lot for her as she is 75 years old!  Always willing to learn new things!! I give her a lot of credit!

Thanks Jude for a wonderful time! I’m sure we’ll be back (though we’ll probably wait till after the snow!).

Turning 4

DGS#1 turned 4 a week ago and there was another party!  Unfortunately he was running a fever and wasn’t feeling good.  Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Pumpkin Party

I was just a week before Halloween due to a wedding in the family.  I only took a few pictures.  We skipped the hay ride though one of DS’s friends brought his old John Deere to pull the hay wagon. It was a warm day for late October.  There wasn’t much of a turnout due to short notice.  We also didn’t stay for the bonfire!
